HOW DOES THE SNOREX MANDIBULAR ADVANCEMENT SPLINT WORK?
The Snorex anti-snoring device is a customised Mandibular Advancement Splint (MAS) designed to fit your mouth, jawline and teeth perfectly. The Snorex MAS prevents the narrowing of your throat's airway, by stopping your tongue falling backwards, which dramatically reduces the chance of vibrations, causing snoring.
WHAT TO EXPECT

Yes. The Snorex device is custom designed for great fit and comfort.
For many patients, the first night brings instant bliss. For others, it may take up to a week or two to get accustomed to wearing it, the important thing is to use it consistently and you’ll find it gets easier each time.
No, the Snorex MAS range has been designed to encourage saliva flow, keeping your mouth moist.
Yes. Snoring is hard work. You may find you’re currently waking up, feeling like you haven’t slept at all. But when using the Snorex MAS, you’ll be promoting quality sleep and wake feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day.
GETTING FITTED FOR A SNOREX DEVICE
No. The Snorex devices are custom made for each individual person, ensuring a precise and accurate fit, so that you and your partner get the best sleep possible. This is one of the big differences between the cheap, inferior one-size-fits all devices you might find at you local chemist.
However, we’ve made it easy for you to order your Snorex device. You can visit us in clinic at any of our locations, or you can enjoy the convenience of our home impression kit service.
While many general practitioners and specialists send clients to our clinic, it is not necessary for you to get a referral form. You can book directly with us, simply by phoning 1800 SNOREX (freecall).
However, you may want to start by talking to your doctor. Your doctor can do a physical examination and make sure there’s nothing more serious going on. Many regular snorers, especially heavy snorers, also have sleep apnoea. Sleep apnoea can cause daytime drowsiness, as well as high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, unhealthy weight gain, heart attack and stroke. (see Is It right For Me?)
A sleep study is not necessary to get fitted for a Snorex device. We’ll undertake an assessment of your sleep habits to ascertain the device that’s right for your needs.
Some private health funds require a sleep study to qualify for a rebate.
IN CLINIC We require the patient to have two separate visits to our clinic, the first for consultation and making dental impressions, the second for fitting and adjustments if necessary. These visits are usually spaced five working days apart and are about 30 minutes each.
We offer a special same-day service for people travelling from intrastate or interstate. Please ask us about this when booking.
HOME IMPRESSION KITS Once you’ve ordered your home impression kit, we’ll send it to you within two business days. Once you’ve returned the home impression kit to our clinic, and we’ve discussed the options with you, you can expect to receive your device within two weeks.
IS A SNOREX DEVICE RIGHT FOR ME?
The most common form of sleep apnoea is Obstructive Sleep Apnoea ie when the airways are obstructed, causing a person to stop breathing for up to a minute or more. In severe cases, it can be repeated hundreds of times per night. The result is reduced oxygen to vital organs such as the heart and brain, with serious long-term medical repercussions.
Snoring is a very common symptom of sleep apnoea. But of course, not everyone who snores has sleep apnoea. With snoring, the airways are partially blocked, while with sleep apnoea, the flow of air is totally blocked.
A CPAP machine is the first line of defence for moderate to severe sleep apnoea. However, the Snorex MAS range is often an effective option for those who can’t tolerate a CPAP machine, eliminating the issues with noise, pressure, feelings of claustrophobia, skin irritations and sleeping position as well as costly replacement of masks and hoses.
Both the Continuous Positive Airflow Pressure (CPAP) machine and the Snorex MAS devices work to keep the airway open and allow continual airflow. The CPAP works by using pressurised air forced into the mouth and/or nose. The MAS manually moves the lower jaw forward, to keep the airway clear.
If you suffer from moderate to severe sleep apnoea, a CPAP machine is most likely the better option. Check with your doctor or medical advisor. However, while CPAP is a recommended treatment of sleep apnoea, many people (up to 60%) do not like using a CPAP machine due to physical discomfort. A customised Manibular Advancement Splint will work in approximately 90% of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) cases, significantly reducing, if not eliminating sleep apnoea altogether.
No. Snorex devices are free from latex and silicon.

"I picked up my Snorex last Monday and a week on I am bouncing out of bed about an hour and a half earlier than I normally wake. I also go all day without flagging, after one week! Thank you so much, I am amazed at the difference. Also, it is really comfortable to sleep with, I haven’t had any problem adapting to it at all. It has made a massive change for me, thanks again."
